From April 3rd – 4th, 2019 Eurogress Aachen will be the place to go as researchers and developers will discuss the latest insights into chemistry, technology, and manufacturing of rechargeable batteries for future applications in mobility, energy infrastructure and consumer goods.

The symposium is an established annual platform for academic and industry professionals. More than 160 graduates and PhD’s are competing for slots in the oral sessions which, together with a rigorous selection by a prominent advisory panel, will result in scientific excellence. Extensive poster sessions and shop-floor discussions, for which a ample time is reserved in the otherwise rigorous schedule emphasizes the tremendous interest in this megatrend. Meet the young talent in this area, be part of the social evening event at the “Tivoli”-stadium, when prices for the best contributions will be announced.

Join an international network of experts as the worldwide effort in the reduction of carbon emissions powers a growing demand for batteries in the mobility sector.

The exhibition is already fully booked.

Keynotes (confirmed) are given by:

  • Dr. Matthias Ullrich, Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft
  • Prof. Rachid Yazami, Nanyang Technological University
  • Dr. Hartung Wilstermann, Webasto E-Solutions & Services Boards
  • Prof. Dr. Petr Novàk, Paul Scherrer Institut
  • Prof. Dr. Kristina Edström, Uppsala University
  • Ted Miller, Ford Motor Company and
  • Prof. Andreas Jossen, TU Munich

More than 60 specialists with in depth contributions will contribute to the parallel sessions.

Power Transformer News publishes an article on the international Advanced Battery Conference “Batterietagung 2018”:

The global market for battery energy storage systems (BESS) is set to grow by a rate of approximately 19 per cent per year until 2025, a recent study finds, which was published on Tuesday alongside Batterietagung 2018 conference in Münster, Germany.

The annual BESS market volume is expected to grow to 24,5 GWh until 2025, starting from 6 GWh in 2017, according to the CEO of market research firm Avicenne Energy, Christophe Pillot.

The overall market for Lithium-Ion Batteries is set to reach a volume of 490 GWh by 2025.

A research paper from Forschungszentrum Jülich, also presented during Batterietagung 2018, says that in Germany currently are 55 BESS projects with a system size of more than 1 MW in operation. Their cumulated storage capacity sums up to approximately 500 MWh. The main application field is the provision of primary control Power (PCP).

Thank you for the large number of papers. More than 240 abstracts (poster and speech) have been submitted for the international conference “Kraftwerk Batterie / Advanced Battery Power”. The scientific advisory board needs some time to evaluate the papers and organise the final program with about 60 speeches. You will get more information in December. All Posters are accepted.

The registration for the conference is already open.
See you in Münster 2018!

In 2017 the two events, Battery Day NRW and Advanced Battery Power, brought together more than 600 professional visitors. The high number of papers submitted for presentation at the battery conference was unprecedented at the time. During the events more than 60 speakers and 150 scientific posters presented economic and technical aspects of battery technology. Respond to the Call for Papers and submit your contribution for inclusion into next year’s conference programme. The deadline is October 31, 2017. You find all informationes here.

Poster Price of 1,500 Euro for the three best scientific posters.

The poster award presentation is one of the traditional highlights of the conference „Advanced Battery Power“ which was held in Aachen/Germany this year. Traditionally Prof. Dr. Dirk Uwe Sauer and Prof. Dr. Martin Winter hosted the ceremony.

The first prize came with a purse of 750 Euros and was won by Paul Titscher of TU Braunschweig for his poster “Preserve higher capacities by adjusted manufacturing processes for lithium-sulfur cathode”.

Johannes Kasnatscheew of the MEET Batterie Research Centre Muenster was presented with the secoand prize and 500 Euros for his poster on „The real impact of LiPF6/organic carbonate-based electrolyte oxidation at elevated electrode potentials”.

The third prize worth 250 Euros went to Johannes Sturm of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) for the poster “Non-destructive detection of local aging within lithium-ion pouch cells by applying multi-directional laser scanning”.

Every year the poster price is donated by the Haus der Technik in Essen.
